Leading European Tofu Group The New Originals Company Expands its Expertise

With the takeover of the tofu business and the traditional site in Wiesbaum, Rhineland-Palatinate, the company is continuing its course as a leading European tofu producer and taking over the legacy of 40 years of pioneering activity on the German and European organic market.

Vienna, January 31, 2025 – The New Originals Company, headquartered in Vienna, is acquiring the Dutch company and brand SoFine. Since its founding in 1963, the long-established manufacturer of tofu and soy products has established itself in the plant-based food market. The acquisition includes the SoFine and ProLaterre brands, which are established in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and Finland, as well as the production facility in Landgraaf, which boasts state-of-the-art production capacities. The takeover is being carried out by the previous owner, the Elsa Group/Migros Group, headquartered in Switzerland.

"We are delighted to be able to sustainably expand our expertise with the new location and nearly 100 highly qualified employees. With SoFine, we are expanding our portfolio with important innovations such as tofu strips, tofu cubes, tofu mince, and tofu in water pack, thus contributing to the further development of the entire category."

The plant in Landgraaf complements our existing plants in Slovakia, Germany, and Romania and provides our customers with an even better overall portfolio. Convenience is very important for consumers to rediscover tofu as a central component of a healthy diet,” says Matthias Krön, CEO of The New Originals Company.
Matthew Robin, Head of the Elsa Group, affirms:

"SoFine and The New Originals Company are an excellent fit, which is why we couldn't agree more to this sale. With this sale, SoFine receives specialized support that will underpin its future success."
