Our Story

The New Originals Company is the first truly European tofu company.

We combine Asian craftsmanship and tradition with the power of innovation. Our philosophy is based on the idea of taking responsibility by creating new originals for better health and sustainability worldwide.

No imitations. No compromises. Just plant-based foods with identity.

This pioneering spirit is rooted in the unique stories

In the 1980s, Jan Lunter introduced tofu to Slovakia as part of a healthy lifestyle. Bernd Drosihn was inspired by the alternative scene in New York and established tofu production in Germany. Aurelian Eremia recognized the potential of tofu early on in Romania. And Frits Schrouff realised the growing demand for tofu from Asian immigrants in the Netherlands and became a true tofu pioneer.

Over decades, they built their companies and shaped the European tofu landscape.

In February 2024, the Lunter Family, the management led by Matthias Krön and Raiffeisen Upper Austria founded the New Originals Company.

Our goal is to bring wholesome tofu and natural plant protein goodness to people all over Europe. We want to innovate based on the success stories and with the same strong conviction as the early pioneers.  The brands Lunter (Slovakia), Inedit (Romania), SoFine (Netherlands), and production sites in Germany, the Netherlands, Slovakia, and Romania were brought together, along with the integration of the Berlin-based startup Omami.
