Originally established as ALFA BIO in 1991 by Slovak founder Ján Lunter, the site pioneered tofu and plant-crafted spreads in a region still shaped by meat and dairy. Under the LUNTER brand, the team helped build a new food culture – one that values nourishment, flavour, and respect for ingredients. Over the decades, the facility became a centre of excellence for tofu made from whole soybeans, using time-honoured methods such as water extraction and and traditional smoking with locally sourced wood – always with clean, non-GMO ingredients and no artificial additives.

As of April 2025, Alfa Bio s.r.o. is officially renamed New Originals (SK) s.r.o. – a step that reflects its deep integration into The New Originals Company. While the name has changed, the core values remain: authenticity, quality, and a strong belief in the power of real food to drive meaningful change.

Today, the Banská Bystrica site plays a strategic role in The New Originals Company’s European network. With state-of-the-art processes and a highly skilled team, it produces a diverse range of tofu and soy-based foods – all crafted with care and rooted in Central European food traditions.

From this location, we shape the next generation of plant-crafted foods – not as substitutes, but as New Originals: real food for real people, made from plants, made with purpose.
